### How is Ravion different from Backstage, Port, or Cortex?

Those products primarily provide a portal or catalog that you connect to the rest of your platform. Ravion is the execution layer too: it turns approved modules into developer-facing forms, runs Terraform plans and applies, enforces pipeline approvals, deploys applications, and connects each module to its resources, logs, and metrics. You get the front door and what happens behind it.

### Can we use our existing Terraform?

Yes. Add a module.yaml file that defines the typed inputs you want to expose, then publish the module for developers to self-serve. You can also start with Ravion's open source standard library and replace modules incrementally as your platform matures. ### How does the platform team keep control?

You decide which modules are available, which inputs developers can set, which values are fixed, and which pipelines execute changes. Terraform plans, policy checks, and approval gates stay visible before apply, while every resource and version change is recorded afterward.

### Do developers need to know Terraform?

No. Developers select an approved module and fill in the typed form your platform team generated from module.yaml. Ravion handles the plan, approval, apply, build, and deploy pipeline while keeping the underlying details available to platform engineers when they need them.

### Does our infrastructure stay in our cloud account?

Yes. Ravion is a control plane. Infrastructure, application traffic, runtime secrets, builds, Terraform runs, and pipeline runners stay in your own AWS account. ### Can we adopt Ravion without replacing our whole platform?

Yes. Start with one module, project, or team. Keep existing CI, observability, and infrastructure where they are, then move workflows into Ravion as it becomes useful. Existing cloud resources can be imported into Terraform state without recreating them.

### Can AI agents use the same golden paths?

Yes. Agents use the same approved modules and pipelines through Ravion's CLI and API. They can propose config changes and review dry-run diffs, but infrastructure still passes through the plans, policies, and approval gates your platform team controls.
