How is Ravion different from a developer portal?
A developer portal gives teams an interface, while Ravion gives platform teams the framework and infrastructure automation behind their own platform. Modules are the product: each module carries its builds, deploys, rollbacks, logs, and metrics, so developers get a self-service interface instead of a pile of HCL and a run queue. What does Ravion replace?
Ravion is one control surface for categories that teams otherwise assemble from several products. Its IaC and Terraform automation replaces the Terraform Cloud, Spacelift, and Env0 workflow; its one-click module provisioning replaces the simple deployment paths associated with Vercel, Railway, and Heroku; and its deployment visibility covers the space around the AWS Console, ArgoCD, and Flux. Does Ravion run my infrastructure?
Ravion is a control plane that automates your cloud account, while your infrastructure runs in your own AWS account. Your application code, requests, traffic, and customer data do not pass through Ravion's control plane, and Terraform, builds, and pipelines execute on temporary EC2 instances inside your account. If Ravion has downtime, your running services, databases, and load balancers stay up; new builds, deploys, and Terraform runs wait until the control plane is back. See how Ravion works
Is Ravion safe for AI agents to use?
Ravion is designed for agents to work through the CLI and API against config as code: dry run first, review the diff, then apply. Every infrastructure change runs through a pipeline with a visible Terraform plan and an approval gate you control, while agents choose from modules your platform team approved instead of hand-writing IaC. What happened to Flightcontrol?
Flightcontrol launched in 2021. Ravion was launched in 2026 by the same company as successor to Flightcontrol. Flightcontrol was nice to use, but was too limiting. Ravion fixes all the limitations and restrictions Flightcontrol had. Flightcontrol is still being maintained and supported but is not accepting new customers. Who is Ravion for?
Ravion is for engineering teams that want a self-service developer experience while the platform team retains control of what gets provisioned. Developers can provision modules, build and deploy services, and inspect logs and metrics through one interface, while DevOps keeps control over the underlying Terraform, policies, approvals, and AWS account.
